About Us

Fair Isle is located on beautiful Washington Island in Lake Michigan just off the tip of Door County Wisconsin.  We'd love to chat, so hop on the car ferry and pop over to see us. We're at the first stop sign after you get off the ferry, and you can enjoy a cup of killer coffee at the Red Cup next door, then head on out to visit the lavender fields and sigh inducing Schoolhouse Beach which is rimmed in round white stones. We hand select all our books - children's through adult, have a great shop dog named Maddie and fair trade gifts (hence the name).  

All non-book items in the shop are fair trade products. Fair trade's mission is to work with communities to end poverty and injustice by paying a consistent living wage to people, especially women, for their products, thereby offering them the dignity of earning a better life for themselves and their families. Wages often support school fees, healthcare, and nutritious food for the families of our artisans.
